Becoming a writer – a reiteration of desire

WordPress ‘Uncategorized’ Category

Posted in Blog by lenina on August 7, 2006

Why does WordPress add an ‘Uncategorized’ category by default for every new post? It’s annoying as I keep forgetting to untick the box. Is it because a post has to be categorized in order to be published? Can I get rid of the ‘Uncategorized’ category?

Here is the way to do it. Go to options and the tab Writing. You will see a dropdown list for the default category and bookmark category. You can change them. Once that is done, go back to managing categories and delete the uncategorized category. VoilĂ !

    Thanks as well.

What bull@#$% that was for that box to be located there. Why on earth is it not in the Categories edit page.

What crap. I spent ages trying to find that. Why would anyone want ‘uncategorized’ showing as a default?
