lenina was suspended from WordPress (but is back again)

In case you’ve been wondering where I’ve been:

My WP account was had been suspended since last Friday 11th (!!!), and I’ve been on a business trip so had been unable to sort it out.

Back now though. Will remove FreeRice and won’t use Zemanta till I know for sure, just in case :|

Read below what happened before I went on my trip:

  • Asking Zemanta whether my suspension may have been caused by their automatic insertion of links back
  • Starting a (very basic) exile blog, intellr
  • Composing my WordPress email to their support, which i haven’t had a chance to send yet (now no longer required as it’s working again!

My blog (http://lenina.wordpress.com/) was suspended on Friday, 11th
April, and I don’t know why.

My only guess is that my constant linking to Zemanta (through using
their tool) may be considered as ‘driving traffic to third party sites
or boost the search engine rankings of third party sites’.

Alternatively, someone may have flagged up my blog as I have a green
banner picture linking to the ‘FreeRice’ – website on the right.

These actions are from my knowledge not in breach of the TOS – the
‘Free Rice’ is not commercial advertising for the website - it merely
helps disseminate information about a good cause (charitable,
non-commercial).

The Zemanta – tool works in the WordPress back-end, so again I can’t
imagine this to be in breach of WP’s TOS.

Please resolve this issue and reinstate my account. I have been a
prolific WordPress-blogger for nearly 2 years, with a loyal readership
and great traffic. Since July 2006, I have been a positive advocate
for the WordPress – platform, encouraging friends to use the platform
over and above its competitors. I have commented and fed back on
WordPress updates and features, thus helping to contribute to its
continuing success.

Please get back to me to shed light on the issue. I am happy to
resolve any potential issues, such as removing the ‘Free Rice’ banner,
or anything else that may have caused my accidental breach of your
TOS.

    but what happened? were you just temporarily suspended, and then they put you back on without telling you what had happened?

    yep… they still haven’t told me why this happened. I’m going to try emailing them again.
