lenina on German TV

Yours truly, lenina crowne, will be interviewed for German TV (second main channel). I’ll need to put the word out to friends and family back in Germany as it will be great to have my mug on there, being broadcast to 3 million people (apparently that’s the number of people who watch the programme I’m being interviewed for).

A couple of points I need to clarify though:

  • Shall I give them my title (i.e. Dr.)? Because obviously there will be text overlayed whenever they first show my  mug
  • Who (in Germany) will watch and record it straight to harddrive, cut out the lenina bit, and send it to me as a quicktime file? As I have planned to upload it to youtube (lol) if it’s good enough

Suggestions on the first point (use Dr. title or not) welcome. I think I do want to use it. It’s a one-off opportunity and I want any people who randomly spot me on the telly to see what I’ve got up to in the last 10 years or so ;P

TV Tip: A History of Scotland

A new series started on BBC2 at the week-end, called ‘A History of Scotland‘. I missed the first episode (The Last of the Free) but it’s available on iPlayer, so I’ve downloaded it 🙂

Have I mentioned yet that I love Scotland? That’s why I’m ecstatically happy that my BF is a Scot, with a fair bit of national pride 🙂

New TV

I bought a new, HD-ready 32 inch TV on Saturday. The TV repair people didn’t turn up on the Friday and on the Saturday I just thought ‘fuck it, let’s buy a new one’.

It’s not for the TV aspect of it at all – I resent having to start paying again for the bloody TV license (but will do so naturally..) – it’s just so I can play  my games and my PS3 (whatever game my BF is getting me for Xmas 😀 ).

I’ve also taken my own handle online now. I reserved my nick ages ago when PlayStation first made accounts for PS Online available. Though I doubt I’ll be playing online much – the types of games that I like simply don’t lend themselves to do that.

I also downloaded and logged into PlayStation Home for the first time. That’s worth another blog post though! And some more general PS3 – frustrations too… at least it was free, and with a couple of decent games out now (the new Prince of Persia; LittleBigPlanet) it might actually get played!

No TV Repair People Here Yet

The TV repair people (well, the one specialist) was meant to turn up here between 6PM and 8PM – I had made it quite clear to the lad that came round on Tuesday that I wanted to go out tonight! It’s 20:28 hours just now and this ‘specialist’ still hasn’t turned up. My BF is on his way here however and, if by the time he gets here, the TV person still ain’t here I’m just going to grab B. and go out.

This leaves the question of what to do of course. I need a TV to connect my PS3 to, as I do want to take it back online and waiting to play a few new games. I suppose I could buy a new one – but I’m finding it hard to just go for a cheapy brand and would probably ‘fall for’ a Sony and as big as I can afford 😐

Or maybe I should get something that is more portable and that I may be able to put on the wall etc. – then at least I could carry it around relatively easily. I do think it will have to be a Sony though. Maybe I should get a TV with an iPod dock – that would kill two birds with one stone! I am very tempted indeed – the only problem being that I shouldn’t really be spending any money on anything like that right now as I’m right now paying back my ex BF some money that he put towards the Italy house.

Hm… decisions decisions…

TV Repair Men Coming Next Tue

I found a shop in Edinburgh that repairs TVs, including rear-projection ones, and popped in last week-end. They do a free assessment (to see if it’s repairable) and will then give me a quote, so I can see if it’s worth it going along with it or not. I suppose I’d be quite happy to pay up to £200 max IF they are able to fix it relatively quickly and easily (without having to take it away). But definitely no more than that. Maybe even £200 is too much, given  how little it’s probably worth it (it’s a 42″ Toshiba rear-projection, bought around 5 years ago).

Either way it’s good to know one way or another. Naturally, if I did get it fixed, it would mean I have to get a TV license 😐  – and I’ve come to HATE TV so wouldn’t watch it anyway. Why am I thinking of getting it fixed, I hear you ask?

So that I can play LittleBigPlanet, which is meant to be amazing, and which B. I hope will buy me for Xmas 😀
